Meet your Library Media Specialist 

I'm Ellen Allerton, MLS, originally from Clarence (Buffalo), NY.  I have been a librarian in Illinois, New York, North Carolina and most recently Ohio.

My background has been in a variety of different kinds of libraries and in different kinds of positions.  Public Information Librarian in Algonquin, IL,  Coordinator of Reference at The University at Buffalo Lockwood Graduate Library for Humanities, Social Science, Business and Art, Head of Circulation, Dundee Public Library, Dundee, IL, and Seminary Librarian at St. Mary's Seminary, Whitcliff, Ohio.

In Raleigh, NC I was a  Medical Librarian at Rex Hospital, designed the Library Media Center at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School and founded a Friend's of the Library Group at a local elementary school where we brought in Seymour Simon and Cheryl Harness as visiting authors.

I have enjoyed all of these positions and now find myself in the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools where I had three elementary buildings, DeWitt, Preston and Price for 3 years before going to the High School 4 years ago and where I am now sharing with you on this blog.

Media Center Services

District Level:
  • Poster making
  • Cold lamination for 23" posters only
  • CFHS Yearbooks Archive from 1919 to the present.  Photo copier available. Yearbooks do not leave the library office.

High School Level:
  • Teach classes on Information Technology and Database Searching
  • State of the Art Sound System with drop down rear projection screen, microphones, internet access 
  • Computer Lab with 30 computers, one teacher computer and a smart board: Sign up sheet at the desk
  • Reference Services/Readers Adviser for students and staff 
  • Video/DVD Fiction and Non-Fiction for Staff only 
  • Broadcast Channel One twice daily
